Civic Placemaking: Design, Public Space and Social Cohesion
A three-years research project based on operative mapping and collaborative socio-spatial intervenctions in order to promote novel mechanisms of urban transformation.
The main objective of the research project is to promote social cohesion and intercultural integration in an organic and effective way through projects and research in design that have a direct impact on public space.
If CP1 explored the capacity of ephemeral architecture to transform the perception of public space by the community that inhabits it, CP2 focuses on exploring the capacity of ephemeral architecture to promote interaction between citizens by introducing new uses in public space. CP3 investigates how to turn an emerging public space into a consolidated public space through temporary collaborative interventions.
